Hang in

More dharma talk wisdom: Gil Fronsdal said in a little dharmette I was listening to that there are some people for whom skill in meditation comes very slowly. And these people, if they stick with it, are sometimes the ones who are most transformed by the practice.

This is a relief. Some days I feel like I’m making progress and then some days I feel like I just cannot get my mind to shut up. It’s easy to let doubt crawl in. But then eventually the doubt will pass, just as everything does.

So if it’s slow, and if it feels like nothing is happening, maybe just come to sit anyway. Maybe choose this as the way to explore your tenacity. Maybe take comfort in the fact that people have been sitting for thousands and thousands of years. Cults die out and dead ends are revealed for what they are. I have a pretty good feeling this is not that. 🧘🏼‍♀️ Day53
